ACC Internet Cribbage

Hultgren and Peake win ACC Pegging Pals events

January 15, 2004:
Happy New Year everyone. We have two more winners to report. Sarah Hultgren (thats29pnts4me) from Minneapolis, MN, won the January 3 ACC Pegging Pals single elimination tournament, prevailing over Bruce McGillivray (MCG3336) of Lake Almanor, CA in the Finals. Terry McGinnis (ontario97914) of Ontario, OR took Third Place. Other ACC members in the top eight were programmer Hal Mueller (_Ha1scrib_) of Hamilton, ON, Richard L. Pierce Jr. (J555529) of Springfield, OR, and Richard W. Duckworth (duckmaster1) of Port Orchard, WA. In all, 70 players competed in this Saturday event, the first ACC Internet tournament held in 2004.

Hultgren is a brand new ACC member attracted to the organization by the new Internet Cribbage Program. She was victorious in her first ACC event! It did not come without some controversy, however, as her semifinal match against McGinnis reached its time limit and had to be adjudicated by tournament director Donald E. Ellis (+_LoneStar__) with Hultgren slightly ahead in the last game.

The January 8 ACC Pegging Pals single elimination tournament was won by Karen Peake (Peakie) of Hazel Park, MI. Like Hultgren, Peake was victorious in her first try as a player in an ACC event, though she is in reality a veteran of ACC Internet Cribbage, being tournament director for our Monday Cribbage Cup events, in which capacity she goes by +Lady_Amber.

Taking Second Place was Erica Millman (LadyErica_) of Houston, TX. William MacMillan (Bristlecone0) of Cheyenne, WY finished Third as he did on December 6. Hal Mueller (_Ha1scrib_), author of the computer cribbage program HALSCRIB, reached the top eight for the second straight time, joining veterans Tom Lewis (pegfast) of Albuquerque, NM and Linda Partain (cheeky_parrot1) who won the December 20 event. Donald E. Ellis (+_LoneStar__) was director of the 56-player tournament.

No IRPs were awarded for these demonstration events, but the high finishers have been entered into the official ACC record. We expect that the trial period for ACC Internet Cribbage will end — and rated play will begin — in a few weeks. Watch for an announcement in the March issue of Cribbage World, or at this Web site in a few weeks. (back...)
